When and where is Summer Ball 2024?
The Summer Ball will run from 5pm-12am on Saturday 22 June 2024 at the South Kensington Campus. The afterparty will run from midnight-5am at Beit Quad.
What is happening where?
Where is the event entrance?
The entrance will be on Imperial College Road, past the gatehouse. Please arrive from the Exhibition Road side.
What do I need to bring with me?
· Wristband / ticket.
· Suitable ID (i.e. passport or driver’s license) on the door.
· You student ID.
· A payment card to make food or drink purchases. We are a cashless event.
Is the event accessible?
We are ensuring the event enables access to all. We strongly encourage all attendees who have accessibility requirements to inform us as soon as possible of their access requirements so we can ensure the smoothest event for all as possible. To inform us, please email: icu.events@imperial.ac.uk
What is the dress code for the event?
Whatever you’re comfortable in. The headliners and fireworks will be watched from Queen’s Lawn so ensure you bring appropriate footwear. Keep an eye on the weather, summer in the UK can be unpredictable and you may want to adjust outfits accordingly.
Will there be a cloakroom?
Yes, the Senior Common Room (SCR) will have a cloakroom costing £1. Any belongings not collected at the end of the event will be handed over to College Security.
Where can I find lost property?
All lost property will handed over to College Security at the end of the event, so if you think you’ve lost something then please contact them the following day.
How many stages are there?
There will be three stages, the Main Stage on Dangoor Plaza, the second stage in the Great Hall and the Silent Disco stage in the Queens Tower Rooms.
Will the fairground be free?
Yes! The fairground rides are included in the cost of your ticket, and you can jump on as many times as you want throughout the night.
Can I bring my own food and drink?
The Summer Ball is a licensed event which means you can’t bring your own food and drink. However, we have taken care to provide a wide selection of food and drink, including an extended range of non-alcoholic options across the site, as well as some of London’s best food traders for you to buy from.
What happens if I lose my friends or I lose my phone/ runs out of charge or I start to feel sick?
We will have an information point in the middle of Dangoor Plaza and have Welfare situated in the foyer of the Sir Alexander Fleming building. Moreover, feel free to speak to a member of bar or security staff who will be able to assist with any enquiries.
Can I leave the event and come back?
We cannot allow re-entry to the event, so please ensure you have everything you need with you before entering.
Is there an After Party?
Yes, there will be an afterparty at Beit Quadrangle from midnight – 5am. Click here for tickets.
I don’t drink alcohol – is this event for me?
We have lots of exciting activities at Summer Ball to be enjoyed whether you drink alcohol or not! Plus, we will be serving non-alcoholic options and mocktails across our bars.
How are you ensuring my safety at the event?
We have been working hard all year to ensure we make our venues safe for everyone. We will be running the ‘Ask for Angela’ and ‘Ask for Clive’ campaigns and drink spiking testing kits and drink lids will be available at all bars. We will also have a first aid space and first aiders on site for the entire event should you need them.
What happens if the weather is bad?
We cannot guarantee it will not rain on the day so suggest you dress appropriately. We will not cancel the event unless there are severely adverse conditions which mean it is not safe for the event to run.

- Friday 21st June 10am-6pm
- Saturday 22nd June 10am – 3.30pm
We recommend arriving early in the day to avoid queues.
What is the refund policy?
Can I transfer my ticket to my friend?
Unfortunately, we are unable to transfer tickets to other people.
